Hawksnest Beach
Hawksnest Beach is located along the North Shore of St John; and inside the Virgin Islands National Park. Unlike many other beaches, Hawksnest Beach has restrooms, covered pavilions and grilling areas! Just a short walk from the parking area – this is a family friendly beach, for sure!
The Beach
Visitors will find a fairly long white sand beach that extends for 200+ yards! Like many St John beaches, it’s a shallow water entry. However, depending on wind and waves, surf conditions can be moderate to extreme. but most days you’ll find a gentle surf with modest waves. Because it faces north east – Hawksnest Beach enjoys a fair amount of afternoon shade.
Snorkeling
The reef just off the beach was impacted by the September 2017 hurricanes, Irma and Maria. However, you’ll still find plenty of fish and corals – especially along the deeper portions of the reef.
